Job Purpose
The Load Master plays a crucial role in ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant loading operations for Emirates SkyCargo flights. The role involves comprehensive pre-flight planning, coordination across multiple stations, and traveling with the aircraft during charter or scheduled operations.
The Load Master oversees all ground activities, ensuring that each step meets Emirates’ quality, safety, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Flight & Ground Handling Preparation
- Coordinate all ground handling arrangements for seamless operations.
- Review load specifications and airport requirements before each flight.
- Verify that all cargo is built and loaded according to Emirates' safety and quality standards.
Supervision of Ground Handling Agents (GHA)
- Monitor GHAs to ensure accurate load planning and maximum efficiency.
- Provide timely loading instructions to avoid processing delays.
- Supervise unloading operations to ensure safety and compliance.
- Ensure that pharma, temperature-controlled, and GDP-compliant cargo is handled properly.
Weight, Balance & Documentation
- Prepare aircraft weight and balance calculations and trim sheets.
- Provide all final documents to the Pilot in Command.
- Issue detailed loading/unloading instructions.
- Collect General Declaration, weather details, and flight plan upon arrival.
Operational Efficiency & On-Time Performance
- Maintain responsibility for on-time departures.
- Coordinate with crew, hotels, and operations teams during delays.
- Communicate with engineers, airport authorities, and ground teams for smooth operations.
Safety, Compliance & Special Cargo
- Inspect loading systems and coordinate rectifications with Engineering.
- Identify limitations in case of unserviceable equipment.
- Manage special loads and live animals (AVI) in coordination with crew.
- Conduct main deck security checks as per Flight Operations Manual.
- Perform Dangerous Goods (DG) inspections and manage related incidents.
- Ensure all special cargo meets documentation and permit requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in cargo, airline, or ground handling operations.
- 12 years of schooling or equivalent qualification.
- Completed certifications in:
- Load Control 1 & 2
- Dangerous Goods Acceptance
- Aircraft Loading & Handling
- Special Cargo Handling (including IATA LAR)
- Strong knowledge of customs, immigration, and security regulations.
- Practical understanding of GDP (Good Distribution Practice).
- Excellent communication and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and independently.
